Je Hae-jong, the new president of Sahmyook University, has generously donated 30 million won to the university’s development fund, bringing his total contributions to 100 million won.

Starting his term on March 1, President Je has committed to leading Sahmyook University with the slogan ‘SU RISE, a New Leap for Sahmyook University.’ ‘RISE’ stands for Revival (mission and community), Innovation (education and personnel), Sustainability (ESG and finance), and Engagement (globalization and platform), representing the four key strategies to enhance the university’s brand value.

President Je emphasized, “The next four years are a critical period for strengthening Sahmyook’s brand value in response to the impending challenge of a declining school-age population. Although my donation is modest, I hope it encourages faculty members and major external donors to support this vision.”

During his tenure, President Je plans to focus on raising development funds to implement the SU RISE initiative and elevate the university’s status. He intends to energize and expand the five regional development committees in the United States (LA, Mountain View, New York, Chicago, and Atlanta) to cover the entire country.

Additionally, with the 120th anniversary of the university’s founding approaching in 2026, President Je is planning a large-scale fundraising campaign. This campaign aims to involve alumni, business leaders, faculty, staff, and students in contributing donations ranging from small amounts (12,000 won) to substantial sums (120 million won).

President Je remarked, “Sahmyook University, which began as Uimyeong School in Sunan, Pyeongan Province, 118 years ago, has grown to where it is today thanks to the dedication of many individuals over the years. Sahmyook University will continue to be a place that realizes the aspirations and values of its donors. I hope many will support the university’s mission to nurture servants of truth and love and participate through their donations.”

Furthermore, President Je’s parents-in-law, Cho Jong-pil and Choi Gyu-bok, have also contributed 30 million won to Sahmyook University’s development fund. They have consistently supported development and scholarship funds since their son-in-law’s appointment, with their total donations amounting to 102 million won.
