Personal Statement

The personal statement should give concrete evidence of your commitment as a member of the academic community, giving the committee an idea of who you are as a person. This is also where you can tell us what you can offer to the Sahmyook community as someone coming from an education background outside of Korea, or how you can do to help the higher education system in Korea to become more diverse by making under-represented groups in higher education in Korea more visible.

Study plan

In your study plan, detail how your academic and professional background, interests, and preparation in the academic area you are applying and/or other studies support your research topic and the method(s) you expect to use (or would like to learn) to explore the topic. We want to understand not only why you want to earn the degree, but why you specifically want to study at the Sahmyook University. The statement should also outline your career objectives and how the degree would help you realize them.

Graduate Certificate/ Transcript of Record

Graduate Certificate must be verified by the Korean Embassy or Apostille Verified.

Documents should be whether in Enlish or Korean. If not, must be translated into a complete English or Korean authenticated by the issuing institution or notarized by a notary’s office.

Applicants who graduated from a Chinese university should submit one of below document - CHINESE UNIVERSITY DOCUMENT GUIDELINE

a. “Certificate of Graduation”/“Transcript of Records” from China Academic Degrees & Graduate Education Information (www.cdgdc.edu.cn) or China Higher Education Student Information (www.chsi.com.cn) b. If you are not able to get ‘a’, you should translate the documents into English or Korean and notarized by a notary’s office. After that document should be authenticated by Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China.

Prospective graduates should submit an official “prospective graduation certificate(or a letter confirming that you are prospective graduate” verified by the Korean Embassy.

Passport

Please submit a copy of your passport which is before the expiration date.

Bank Deposit Certificate

As Korean Embassy requires $20,000 or more in student’s own bank account when applying for student visa, we also receive bank deposit certificate in order to check whether the student is qualified to apply for the student visa.

If you are being sponsored, please attach sponsorship letter.

Family Relationship Certificate

Students must prove that both parents are foreigners to be considered as a foreign students We are receiving Family Relationship Certificate to check this out.

Language Proficiency Criteria

Program Document to submit
English courses TOEFL(PBT530, CBT 197, iBT 71), IELTS 5.5, CEFR B2, TEPS 600(NEW TEPS 327)

If you have a nationality where first or second language is English, you are exempt from submitting your English score.

Korean courses TOPIK Level 3 (All majors except Dept. of Music and Interdisciplinary Arts and Performance)
